| What are your thoughts on these rifles in 7.62x39? Pros? Cons? Good? Bad? What is a good price? Also who sales them online? Thanks guys. |

Mr. Clean, You said that the .308 Saiga is a "gem." I have a Saiga-12 beast and now I am torn between getting the .308, .223, or 7.62x39 Saiga. Sounds as if you might have one of each. Is one of them more inherently accurate? How is recoil on the .308 Saiga? Other than the performance advantages of the .308 round, is there something about the .308 Saiga that is better than the other two? I've heard that it is the easiest to convert because of fewer number of holes in the receiver but is there something else about it that is better than the .223 and 7.62x39 versions? Your answer will help me because I love .308 and already have an AR-10, so it would be nice to have another .308. But .223 is cheaper to shoot and I already have a stockpile of .223 for my AR-15s. But 7.62x39 is the most affordable ammo of the three and AKs devour the low-priced steel-cased Russian ammo, so I am interested in that version also. Thank you, Freeway in Utah |
Ditto - I love mine. I've gotten 1.5" groups - 100 yards with a handload. Milsurp Hertenberger gives 2" - iron sights. These are great guns for the $$$ and very easy to convert to pistol grip config. FBMG has 20 round mags for the 308's too - no mods needed. |
| The Saiga is a good rifle for the money.I believe the 308 is said to be the easiest to covert, but I think the 7.62x39 is best overall converted.I say this because of the ammo and the availibility of magazines that are more standard in size than the .223 has. Most .223 mags you have to modify alittle where the 7.62x39 you don't. |
