| I have a Romanian AK-47 WASR-10 High cap that was once imported by Century. I found an East German stock set (found it on sportsmans guide if you don't know which one it is), the one that looks like Hogue OM pebblestone on the butt, and was wondering if it was legal to switch out the original with this one. My gunsmith doesn't think it is legal, can someone tell me different? I'm confused with our Clinton Crap Ban and etc. Thanks |
| Yes and no. It is legal as long as you don't replace the pistol grip. The wood that comes on the WASRs is import wood, so it does not count on the US parts count. The US parts are pistol grip, FCG and gas piston. If you were to replace your hand guards and butt, you'd be legal. If you replace the pistol grip with an import, you are no longer legal. |
| Thanks for all the replys. I ordered a Ultimak scope mount that replaces the upper hanguard/gas piston tube, also has U.S. made pistol grip. Can I put the east german buttstock, pistol grip, and lower handguard on and make it legal or does the scope mount not count as a compliant part? Thanks again, tobias |
When switching out the handguards as a compliance part, switching out one does not cut it. It takes both handguard to count as 1 part, so the answer is no to just changing out the top one. |
