Is it possible to buy a folding stock AK and then a seperate fixed stock to swap out if I wanted to?  I have never messed with AK's very much...

Thank you,

That depends on the folding stock. Some attach to the standard rear stock tang. Some use a different one. For instance, a Romanian side folding stock and an East German side folding stock use the standard rear stock tang. Those can be swapped for a fixed stock.
Underfolders use a different receiver and stock attachment block. Swapping those for a fixed stock is impractical.

Generally NO, though I never underestimate some people's creativity.
Folding stock AK's and Fixed stock AK's use different rear trunions.

+1

Romanian, East German, and :::shudders::: Tapco folders use the same mount as the standard AK stock.

With Bulgarian or AMD type sidefolders and well as underfolders, it's a no go.

With a comfortable sidefolder like the "triangle" folder or especially the AK-100 series folder, I see no advantage to a solid stock. They're just as comfortable.

Now that I think about it some of the ACE folders MAY attach to the standard stock tang, but I'm not sure about that.

You've obviously never owned or seen a Romy or EG side folder. Both are direct replacements for the wood stock. I replaced a wood stock with a Romy folder in about 5 minutes.

Yeah, you're right. So does a version of the triangle folder sold by K-var, but they both look like ass.

You're right, I've never owned a Romy or EG side folder, but do own Bulgy underfolders and triangle side folders. But hey, if I'm wrong then I'm wrong. Thanks for the correction.

And I was pretty sure that triangle folders used a different stock block but I wasn't sure because I never owned one. Now I know for sure. Thanks for the information.
