Hello I am new to this board and i had some questions

My dad passed away about 7 months ago very unexpected and Him and I use to target shoot all the time.

We purchsed a AK47 762./39cal here in NJ about 6 years ago. For some resson at thet time it was legal.

Now i want to transfer the AK into my name how should i go about doing so. I also have some other weapons but nothing as extreme as the a

you live in NY or NJ?

if you live in NY you dont need to transfer the guns I dont think....

I might be wrong though.

NJ is a whole diff can of worms.

are you living in the same state that your father was living in when he passed away?
Drop a line in on the Hometown forum
If you have any magazines over 15 rounds and/or the gun is configured illegally then you will want to change that right away to avoid legal problems....remember there is no "pre ban" in NJ

Thanks yeah i am living in the same state and town and i only have the standard magz nothing over 15 and the ak is stock no add ons and no folding stock.

Its still legal to buy an AK in NJ, as long as it doesnt say AK47 or AK74 or AK anything on the receiver, and does not have a bayo lug, colapsable stock or flashhider.
