I have 2 of these, 7.62x39 and 5.56, I bought them for SBR projects. Both function perfectly, although, the finish isn't that great. Both of mine came with top handguards. I paid $439+tax a piece for them. Neither of mine came with slant brakes, they both had what appeared to be slant brakes with the "slant" cut off, so in essence they were just thread protectors. However, in Century's infinite wisdom, the welded the thread protectors on, but it was an easy fix with a Dremel tool to cut thru the weld. I installed a couple of US made Krink brakes on both of mine. |
probably feed issues... WASR-3s were the most problematic of the bunch....so chopped down similar mfg guns are likely no better. Stick with 7.62x39 to minimize having an issue. They have loser tolerances/more room for error while still remaining functional. |
BG, unless I am mistaken, the pistols you have are the Champions? I have a .223 one. Sounds like you got a good price on them too. The one he is referring to is a made with Yugo parts and come as pictured without the top handguard. Different guns completely and unfortunately I haven't heard a thing about the Yugo ones. I wonder if the barrel is chrome lined or not as almost all Yugos aren't. |
| I have one of the Yogo's and it is definately top drawer. Only fired out to 50 yards so far bet very acurate at that distance. 13inch barrel and if you sand bag it at 50 yds it's just as acurate as a rifle. 1000 plus rounds so far and not a single glitch of any kind. Wish I could find the front and rear keepers that hold the upper hand guard in place though so I could put upper guard on it for cosmetice. Also the fit and finish is flawless. Mine came from SOG. 407.00 and some change and would love to have another. |
My Champions use Romanian parts, and I don't think the barrels are chrome lined. |
Thanks for the info. Re: the top handguard. Maybe this will work? AK-47 Romanian Gas Tube $5 www.akparts.com/index.htm Go to the AK Stocks section, and scroll down. |
Here is a pic of the AK47 Pistol Blondie we carry with a 9.5 inch bbl and custom wood furniture , the fit n finish pls build work is several steps better than the Century Arms pistols but the price is higher also www.atlanticfirearms.com

Hmm, searching the web I found this: www.ultimak.com/M7.htm ![]() Lenght is 5.75", so it should be a drop in part. Is there a trick to turning the release lever for the gas tube? I've tried some pretty hard force, using a peice of hard plastic to push, using my fingers with a leather glove on, etc. and everything failed. Sucker seems stuck in the closed position. The only other thing I can think of trying is 'prying' the lever away from the block so the indent isn't as 'latched' and then try turning it... but I don't want to bust or scratch anything. Tips? Suggestions? |
| Yeah Chucker, I use a deralin punch made for the take down pins on my AR's and tap them up with a small brass hammer. Wouldn't be a good idea to pry it out, you really want it to stay tight. That tube looks cool but I just want to put a matching laminated wood hand guard on it to match the lover. I need conventional tube with ferrules or if I can find them just buy new ones to put on my gas tube.. |
I think you will have to cut down a standard length tube to fit. Open up the tube with a 1/2" deep drive socket and a touch of MAPP gas. |
I cut down one yesterday. The trick is heat to cherry red and use some smooth jawed vise grips to get the initial shape started. The fun part is doing it by your self in a very cold barn. You have to be fast, ask me how I know. good luck |
