Hi all,

I'm purchasing my first AK-47.  It's a Lancaster AKM with nice Russian Red furniture.  I'm trying to decide whether to go with Bulgarian waffle pattern polymer mags or Bulgarian steel mags.  Part of me says get the polymer ones for the slight weight savings and extra toughness, but also part of me is saying go with the classic style of the steel mags, especially because of the nice wood furniture.  Help me decide please!

Congrats on buying your first AK!!!

They are both good mags.  I slightly prefer the polymer bulgarian mags because you don't have to ever oil the mag bodies.  I can't stand letting anything rust, so I typically will wipe my steel mags after a range day with a rag and a little clp or other light oil.  The polymers don't need any maintance at all.

You may want to get one of each, and use them.  Once you find what you like more, go back and purchase what ever quantity it is that you'd like to have.

Just get both. You're going to end up with a ton of them, so you may as well get a variety.

yeah there it is... arguing about two different types of mags when you should be getting both is rather droll

You know you have enough magazines when you lose track of some of them!

I don't have any steel Bulgies but the polymers are my favorites. I also like the Hungarian 20-rounders which are easier to deal with when sighting in from a rested position.
