I had thought about selling my single stack 101, but have decided to go ahead with the conversion. I have access to about any piece of equipment needed, so thats not a problem. Now, after talking with another member, this is what all I'll need to do the conversion correct?

Grip and stock
Tang
Grip screw
Receiver cover to replace POS one

Also, I know I'll need to order a US made FCG to stay legal. I should NOT have to install a bullet guide correct? Does anyone have a template I could use when I mill out the mag opening? Right now about the only thing I could go on is my Mak-90. The muzzle break is pinned on, as it has two small pins on the underside, what are my options with replacing it(and how do I get it off once I punch out the two pins?)? I would also like to put a side mount on it, anyone have a template to help me along? Right now, here is my 101:

As a toolmaker, I would say you might need more than just a template. I'll have a look at my SA M-7 when I get home, but I think there might be more than just a straight square-to-the-bottom-of-the-reciever opening there. Could be wrong, though. I think there might be some angle cuts involved.

You'll need 5 parts for a milled rifle, 4 if you keep the permanent muzzle device. A new furn. set is 3, so just one more part if you don't take the existing break off, or 2 more if you do.

On a second note, don't Arsenal milled rifles have receivers made in the states? If so, the new furn. set would be all you would need if you don't remove the break.

If you want to go all out and bring it up to no-ban military config, you'll need a new FSB and gas block, cleaning rod, and maybe handgaurd retainer. Those are a lot more work and most people simply don't bother.

Well, if I replace just the stock and grip, thats two parts right? Then if I put a new FCG group in, thats 3 more, and all my mags have US made followers in them. That should be 6 right there.

Don't bother with the followers. You only need 4 (if you don't take the break off), the stock and PG are 2, and the FCG is 3, you've already got one more than you need!

All the mags I have for my other AK already have US made followers, so either way I'll have enough parts. Anyone know how the barrel is threaded?

Should be regular 14x1 LH.

I believe the receiver is most likely Bulgarian.  Not all milled Arsenal rifles used US receivers.  The SLR-95/93, 96 were Bulgarian.  The single stack was most likely foreign also.  Arseanl's site lists the 101 as imported.

I believe the muzzle brake on the end of the barrel would qualify as an "imported muzzle device" and count against your US parts count.  However, it is permanently attached, which may or may not make a difference.  Anybody know?

If it's perm, it's not a seperate part and does not count.
