One of my Arsenal's has a side rail, so I'm considering a quick detach scope mount and 4X scope. I don't really care for the old school Draganov style scopes, for anything other than a draganov. http://www.k-var.com/shop/home.php?cat=264 Can anyone recommend a halfway descent, low profile, 4X scope? |

I bought one from shotplus.com once but they no longer have them as far as I know. I bought the weaver mount low side mount and then picked up a separate 4x 400m reticle Russian scope to mount on it. Sits almost directly over the centerline and very low. Iron sights are useless once it is on the rifle. The side mounts have really gone up in price and the low models are the one I prefer............link The scope I used was like this one from Kalinka Optics. They have many others with different reticles. I have never ordered from them and they had a bad rep. at one time but there have been reports that their customer service has improved. Use a credit card and you should be safe. I don't think they have the correct low mount though that I have found to be best. ![]() The one I have has the 400m reticle like this: ![]() But there are other types of reticles available. ![]() ![]() |

MAK I like the low profile scope mount, but 'm not sure about it , as it's on clearance and non-returnable if I don't like it. But that scope looks pretty good. I think a 400m reticle is perfect. It's going on a SAM7 for now, but an AK-74 (5.45x39) in the near future, and that's abot the weapons capability. Thanks man. Anyone else, I'm still open to suggestions...!!! |

Kalinka has the side mount also but I believe it is a higher model, not the lowest type. Their price is lower. I would not bet on any of these places taking returns without issues though they might. .......... Also check out Tantal's site. Mounts and optics |

The mount is a good deal from freedom optics. The problem is they don't have any of the scopes I mentioned in 4x. They have a 3-9x40 varible power but it is not lighted and I don't know what type of reticle, probably duplex. The only other one I see is the 6x42 which I don't think would work as well as a 4x due to the size at the front. |
