Are there any optics platforms (side rail mounted) for the AK that give a decent cheek weld? I like the POSP but that thing sits up pretty high.

Assuming mag scope, see the DPH and Krebs top rails, or the common BP-02 side bracket for western optics.

I have a SAM7R with side rail. The Kobra for a red dot or the 2.5-5x POSP seem like the best choices. I just worry that I'm not going to get a cheek weld with these things. Has anyone actually tried either of these and can they comment? Thanks dudes.

The fixed stock on a milled gun has a steeper drop, better for irons but not optics. Not an issue on my straight SF model.

Learn a jaw weld, consider a pad, or try riflestocks.com

Or get the Bulgarian in line stock from K-Var. I have one on an Arsenal Carbine and like it alot.

For folding stock AK I find the International Training Concepts (ITC) Rail Rest to be the most comfortable cheek weld aid to date.

ITC makes a cheek rest for standard stock too.ITC Products
