Hello everyone, this is my first time posting to this forum.  I did do a search prior to this and couldn't find any information on the Tech Sights that are available for an AK-47.  I have an Arsenal SGL-21 and am thinking about throwing on some upgraded sights.  My first thought are the Tech Sights. Has anyone had any experience with these that would be willing to share their experience and info?  Thanks everyone.

I'd also like to hear some opinions.  I've got a set on my romak but with a new baby around range trips have been nonexistant.  They definitly increase the sight radius and are easier to acquire than the stock sights.  Kind of a pain in the but (relatively) to get the top cover off though.

I have Tech-Sights on my Draco. Here is what I can tell you

CONS
After installing my new rear sight I noticed a slight gasblock cant in my rifle, it interferes with my sight picture...its annoying.
You lose the ability to quickly take the dust cover off for cleaning and such....also very annoying.
You only have peep sight sized holes, meaning good luck shooting fast and close.

PROS
You get a great and adjustable peep sight on your rifle.

FWIW If I could do it again I would have just bought the Krebs peep

Pretty much on-par with my experiences. They're great if you want a higher-precision peep sight, but they are not all that fast and things can easily block the sight picture because the aperture is so small. The only rifle I still have Tech Sights on is an SKS I have set up for pig hunting. They aren't for you if you plan to use the rifle for any kind of defensive or tactical purposes (saying tactical almost makes me feel dirty any more... I mean carbine classes, run-n-guns, etc.).

Thanks everyone for the info.  I think I will do a little more research on the product before I jump into a decision. Thanks for the help and pics.

taking a peep from close to your eye and moving it far away is going to slow your "fast and close" shooting down even more...stock ak sights are the best for cqb..

I have the big dot XS sights on my AK and love them.  Very quick to acquire close range target, but not the best for long distance.  They also make a smaller front sight.

I run a Mojo sight on mine and haven't noticed any "slow down".  It's wide enough that it acts more like a ghost ring.  The only downside I've noticed with them (which is about the same with the stock rear sight) is once the barrel and gas block heat up, I start to get mirages and the front post blurs.  Thats the only time I've noticed it takes more time to acquire the front post but the target always remains sharp.

As a bonus (to me at least) is the Mojo or Krebs is a relatively solid piece with a much lower profile.  The windage adjustment is dovetailed in and screw adjustable. Less change of snagging it on something and it shouldn't lose zero if banged into something.

Your Mojo and his Tech Sights are totally different, so you're trying to compare apples to oranges. Tech Sights are slower, but more precise, than Krebs or Mojo peeps, as there is roughly a foot of difference in sight radius and a dramatic difference in aperture size. There is no "perfect" iron sight arrangement, but some are better than others for different uses.
