That is the Molot factory mount that came on the previous generation of Super Veprs.  Latest Supers have a side rail similar to other AKs.



The mount is specific to Supers and will only work on them.

-I'd say a side mount, because you have more mounting choices, it's quick-detach and re-zeroing, and you can get one that sits a little lower. -The only real advantage I could think of with this one is you don't have to buy it seperately.

I have Vepr Super and mine did come with a side mount. With that said. I have a few different PSOP and a Kobra along with 3 different mounts one of them came with a rifle. Every single one of those is stitting waay out there to the side. And by waaay I mean 1/4" off center. I don't like it. So I bought this top mount instead from Kalina and love it. It returns to zero no problem..... So, depending on what you like i.e. being able to use irons at the same time as the scope. You should choose accordingly.
