Ordered a Vector Optics Nomad red dot a few days back off Ebay, figured I would take it to the range and give it a shot tomorrow.  I read a little about them online, and my neighbor has one of their high power scopes on his .308 rifle, and it's dead on and stays there at 250 yards, so It was worth the 30 bucks I dropped on it.  It has both a red and green 3moa dot with 5 brightness settings for both, runs off a coin style 2032 bat, so it might not last long but I won't need it more then 30 minutes at a time per range day.

Not sure if anyone has tried one, but I will do a little report on it's accuracy after a hundred rounds and a few drops at the range.  I know it's Chinese, and rated pretty low in the scheme of things when compared to an EoTech or Aimpoint, but If it holds within 1" of zero I would be pretty satisfied.  We shall see.

Here's some pics::

Ok guys, here's the results.

As far as holding zero, it's wonderful.  I put about 100 rounds down range, bumped it around on the table, took it off and dropped it from waist height, then mounted and shot again.  It let me hold about a 1" pattern at 50 yrds shooting from the shoulder with no rest.  I was impressed.

The ONLY issue I had with this scope was the brightness.  It was DIM!

In a low light or home protection scenario, this scope would fit the bill, but if you plan on using it at the range or in competition you can forget it.

If they had just gotten more brightness out of this scope, It would rate an A in my book.. However it just won't do.

I may just have a faulty unit so I will mess with it a little to see, but I don't have high hopes for it to improve.

I will say that the thing is built tough.  Heavy and strong.  The lenses will reflect a little of the scope guts, but not enough to throw you off.

Back to the drawing board I suppose. :-(
