Finally was able to install my TAK Latch, Tactical AK Latch, on my WASR GP 10/63. Received it Friday from IO of Colorado, quick shipping, but had Guard drill over the weekend.

Took a bit to punch out the old rivet hinge pin, due to the wrong tool. Had a friend help me, both of us inexperienced at gunsmithing. We were able to get it installed without too much trouble.

The TAK Latch does what it's supposed to do. Easier for me to do mag changes.

Now before anyone talks about some mag change using the new mag to knock out the old mag; I'm not into that tacticool mag dropping. I did this improvement for my benefit and IMHO works better for me.

I do need to remove it and grind down the latch a little. The Euro mag I have sticks and the Hungarian mags are a little odd. The Chinese mags fit in with no trouble. Grinding down the latch should allow for easier latching without having to slap the mag bottom.

All in all, a decent $10 spent. Doesn't add much if any weight and doesnt interfere with the ergonomics of the rifle. It doesnt seem to catch on any of my gear.

That looks interesting and not expensive for once. Please do keep un informed on how it holds up over time.

I'll keep everyone up to date. After dinner here, I'm going to grind the latch down to allow the Euro mags to seat better. Nothing unusual with AK parts, having to grind to fit things better.

I grinded down the latch top and the mags now latch in better. No issues with any mags now, including my Euro mags.

I recommend dry-running the latch (without the spring) before hand to determine if you need to grind down. It won't require much grinding though.
