Hi everyone!

I am currently looking at attaching a scope to my WASR GP 10/63, which has a side attachment point already built in. I'm trying to keep a traditional AK look, so I've ruled out on this rifle any handguard replacement mounts.

What I'm looking for as far as scope mount:
1) Low profile to allow for good cheek weld
2) Durable
3) Inexpensive (don't need to spend $200 for a mount)
4) Allows dust cover to be removed without having to remove mount

One candidate I've found is the UTG/Leapers 5th Gen Quick Detachable Double-rail AK Side Mount Model # MNT-978

What do you consider inexpensive?  How much are you willing to spend?

My budget is $50, that way I'm not eating into my scope budget.

BTW, I'm left handed. I've read some articles mentioning about scope mounts being off centered, so I'll try to avoid those.

UTG mounts aren't bad, surprisingly good for what they are.

I however have a "clamp-down" which is tightened down with three allen head bolts.   I like it, as low as it can be and remove the duscover without taking the mount off.

Did you buy the UTG mount? I just bought one, but its nowhere near center on my rifle. Not sure what to do with it. I guess each rifle/rail is different.

The kv-04 on KVAR.com is about 100 bucks, but I dont think you can get much better than that.

I am now using a UTG mount on my SLG-21 it has a AIMPOINT M4 mounted on it and it is rock solid and a quality mount. Many have bad mouthed the UTG AK mounts but no one yet had shown one to have failed in service.
