I just purchased a 2-6x24 POSP from Eastwave. I love the glass clarity and the illumination is nice.
I do however have a problem with the magnification. At 2-3x the reticle is very clear. It's decent from 3-4x and then gets blurry from 4-6x. The image of the target is great througout the range, it's just the aimining chevrons and hashes seem to be overexposed and don't show up at the higher mag. Is this a problem with the scope or my eyes? I have 20/15 vision so I'm not sure if that's it. Any input would be appreciated. CougKev |

Your eyes are fine.
I don't own any 2-6x24 POSP scopes. However, on my 2.5-5x24 POSP the reticle stays in sharp focus through entire magnification range. The reticle is in first focal plane and it's size increases with higher magnification. E-mail East Wave and see what they have to say about it. |

Richard,
Thanks for replying. I emailed them and they thought it might be an issue with my eyes. I'm still not sure because I played with it more today and it appears the image and reticle are a bit overexposed above 4x. Since I have not used theses scopes before (only PK AS), I wanted to get others take on it. When using your scope, do you feel that your eyes can move focus to and from the chevron/hashes to the target? That's what's happening at the higher magification. Like my eyes are trying to adjust for the overfocus. I am sure I will get it figured out either way and I know Eastwave will take care of me. Their custmoer service rocks!!! Thanks, CougKev |

It is apparent that 2-6x24 POSP scope does not have independent focus (adjustable ocular lens).
2.5-5x24 D scope has such feature, "D" stands for independent focus. It is possible to have 20/20 or 20/15 distance vision and not be able to see near objects in sharp focus, for example newspaper print. If you feel that you may need reading glasses, then POSP 2.5-5x24 D scope, or any scope with "D" designation is for you. Scope with adjustable ocular lens (marked with letter D) will bring reticle into sharp focus regardless of power setting. |

LM, I came to that conclusion last night. Obvious or not, I appreciate the suggestion.
I had three other peolpe look through it today. They all saw the same thing. With one individual losing clarity as low as 2.5x. In all cases, both the image and the chevrons were clear and start to degrade at the 3.5x to 4x mark. The image gets bigger up through the 6x but not clearer. Above the 4x I can get either a clear image or clear chevrons if I work at it but not both. I also looked at mountain top 1/4 of a mile away and it was clearer on 4x than the higher settings. I also took the scope out last night in the dark when no image was visible and had the scope illuminated. I figured this took the image out as a variable and would give me look at the chevrons. They were clear as a bell and got more blurry the further past 4x that I went. Based on the above I think it is the scope. What say the ARFCOM crowd? Thanks CougKev |
