| I took my new to me Century GP1975 to the range yesterday. Shooting from the bench, at 75 yards it was hitting 6 to 7 inches to the right of the point of aim. If I'm correct I have to move the front sight post to the right to correct this. The post is currently off center to the left. My question is since I don't currently have a sight tool and have to tap it over with a hammer/punch at home, is there anyway to guess how much I have to move it to get close to the point of aim? I guys at the range here are pretty anal and would probably freak out if I tool a hammer and started whacking on my rifle, so I have to do it at home. I plan on getting a sight tool but I want to go back tomorrow. |

Instaed of a hammer and punch (which is likely to scratch up your front sight), try using a socket and a "C" clamp. Put the socket on the side your pushing the sight toward so the sight pin has somewhere to go (inside the socket). Use the flat part of the top of the C clamp against the socket and tighten down the threaded part to move the pin. If you look at the front sight tool you will notice it doesn't look much different. |

Set the rear sight at 100 and sight-in at 50 meters (or yards ... close enough). Zero at 50 is zero at 100. You may sight in at 100 meters (yards) if you wish. If you decide to sight-in at 75 yards, set the rear at 100 mark. .004" lateral movement of front sight post moves POI 1" at 100 meters 1 revolution of front sight post moves POI 8" at 100 meters. |
