If you are looking for a no BS WASR also check the Henderson Defense web site. They even might fit a side rail on request.

Already got the WASR with a side rail. Just looking into this scope. Im left handed, so Im not sure if eye relief is an issue. You guys ever deal with Kalinka optics?

Yeah im currently looking at getting a scope off that site real soon also but don't want to drill holes in the side so im going with the weaver mount version. If they are good enough for the Red Army im sure they are good enough for a beginner like me.

Sounds good enough for me too, just worried about the optic siiting too far to the left of the receiver. for 130 bucks, It's something Im definitely interested in.

That scope is an SKS/SVD mount and won't fit a WASR, it will sit too low on the receiver and won't slide on properly.

You need an AK mount (locking lever on the bottom) like this:

www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=327

It's a 6x which may be overkill for an aK, but it has the right mount to fit the rail and clear the receiver when it slides on. SVD Receivers are not as tall as AK's, hence the different heights of the scopes.

Kalinka is GTG, I've ordered several scopes from them and had great service. Most people seem to be happy with them.

This is more then likely how it would look like installed.

I think you'd be looking way over the rifle to get a good sight picture.

Meh, i don't think it would be a problem being im a leftie too.But im not much of an expert on scopes i think it would work just fine since there is no note on recommended left or right handed scopes on the site.

I've honestly never tried to shoot with one but this is what I mean. I think they are offset like this.

Borrowed a picture from somewhere.

they sit about a 1/2" to the left, so YES, it is a problem,

you will need to get a weaver topped side mount and put civilian optics on it. then it will be centered

Will any of those optics work for a lefty ie. their red dots or Kobras?

Kobras and a version of the PK-AS sit over the bore.

CampyBob uses std 4x24 scopes just fine when he shoots lefty. Just zero for you cant a bit. Or get a Beryl type mount right over the rec from DPHArms (see other thread)

I've got to get a PK-AS like the one in the pic above. As a right handed person with a strong left-eye dominance, that thing would be perfect.
