I just purchased my first AK, a WASR-10 and I would like to add to the number of magazines I have.  However, I picked up a 40 round mag the other day from a reputible (sp?) vendor and it didn't fit my AK when I got home.  Are there specific mags that I need to look at purchasing?  What will and won't fit?

Thanks for helping a noob out.

Some, not all WASR’s need to have their mag well opened up to fit some magazines. My WASR takes em all with very little wobble, even my 2 40rds.

That's probably what it is, the mag seems just a hair to large for the mag well.  Assuming that I'm a noob (I am) and don't feel comfortable opening up the mag well, does this mean that I'm going to have to bring my rifle with me to the shop/show everytime I want to pick up some mags?

If the magwell is too tight take a file and open it up where the mag hits. If you don't then you will never be able to use Bulgarian waffles or a drum.

Anyone got a link to some simple instructions on doing this?  I just don't want to f**k it up.  I assume a  Dremel tool is needed.

Hook it in there and pull back hard and see if it'll go in. My old Maddi it tight like that, it is loose with USA and the 5 rounder that came with it though. When I build an AK I take about 10 mags/drums out in the shop and make sure it will fit each and every one, they're all a little differant.
