Anyone got some tips on fixing broken/dented surplus mags?
So far I've been pretty lucky and only had to deal with some sticking followers, sometimes just cleaning & oiling them does it, other times I've been able to pop/pry a dent out or file down the side of the follower. One mag didn't free up after all that but I swapped the follower with a spare Tapco from the parts bin and after hand cycling it a dozen times it works fine. Surprisingly I've yet to come across a weak spring although I don't have anything to really measure resistance, if it feels good and doesn't appear to be bent it goes in to service. |
