The 5-round mag that came with my SA85M in 1996 needs a new spring. I use the mag at the range when shooting off the bags. I looked around but didn't find any 5-round springs for sale. Anybody know of a source? I could cut down a regular one if I had to.

Never mind. I took the spring out and compared it to a spring out of an unused 30-rd and the coils were spaced exactly the same - no spring set evident. It was a little dirty inside as I had previously only washed it out without disassembling, so now it holds better when loading only one round. I don't usually load one round only, but when I did, it popped out when locking the mag into the rifle. All good now. Not bad for a mag in use since 1996!

I didn't know the answer when you posted your thread, why I didn't post.

But glad you got your mag working.

Yeah, its real handy when shooting off the bench for sighting in a new scope or making an ammo change. I was using it the other day in a SIG 556R and an AMD65. The 20-rd Hungarians work for that too as well as being top-quality mags all-around.
