Hi all, I've got a question regarding some ammo that I have. If I remember right it was purchased at a show in our around 1992 or 93. It came 1400 rounds to a wooden crate, 2 spam cans to the crate. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/vic303/IMG_0916.jpg Any ideas as to what this is? Specifically I am wondering if this may be steel core. I'd rather not open it, pull a bullet and check though. And no, I'm not interested in selling Semper Fi |
| I think what you have here is some steel cored M43 ball ammo, date of mfg is 1975 I believe. I don't have any of my reference books handy as I recently moved, but the key to what type it is is up in the right hand corner. The "------43" is the key...I could be mistaken, but I believe this is headstamped "17-75". Should be a lacquered green steel cased with possible read sealant on the neck and primer. I opened tons of this type stuff when I was in SF and shot it like there was no tomorrow, as those were the good ole days for sure! Open a tin and let me know if I am close or whatever, as I am curious now the more that I look at it. Hope this helps...Tommy. |

Tommy, Thanks for the info! I'd like to pop open a can just to see what is in there, but I'd also like to keep it sealed. I've got other 7.62x39 to shoot before I ever need to get to that. Does anyone out there have any spam can reference sites? I've googled but get buried under the "spam" search. Semper Fi |

these guys have it all wrong. It's actually just a can filled with toxic waste. You need to send both cans to me for proper "disposal"hose |
