Shot my SSR-85C-2 today for the first time and notice the casing was beat up. Is this normal for the AK-47?

I have had that happen on a few occassions. I can't say it's normal for an AK to dent the mouth, but there is nothing wrong with your AK. The case mouth is contacting something as it is leaving the receiver. About all you can do to stop it is do something to the ejector to make it eject at a slightly different angle, but i have no idea which way to go with it. Possibly using different ammo might stop it but probably not. I wouldn't worry about it. Fal's do this all the time and it is common for those rifles. You can tell where it is striking by finding "kiss" marks inside or outside of the receiver. That might provide you with a clue as to how to adjust the ejector. But as I stated, I wouldn't worry about it. Your rifle is fine as long as it kicks them free of the gun.

My Mini-30 and one of my Romanian AK's did the same thing. I used a Dremel to make a small notch at the 6-oclock position on the outside ramp where the bullet goes into the chamber. I have seen this posted on another forum some where. If somebody out there has that link please post it. But both of my guns have not bent up the shell casings after I did this.
