| I've heard that Barnaul 7.62x39 can go nearly 500 FPS faster than wolf 7.62x39 (2000 FPS compared to 2500). Is this true? Just how good is Barnaul? |

Barnaul is my favorite of the Russian ammo makers. I stocked up seriously on one particular lot of the marlboro man blue box stuff that is the most accurate round I've fired out of my SKS and AK including the domestic brass cased softpoint. Still got some of it, and no I aint sharin |
I like the Barnaul mfg. Monarch brand sold at Academy for $2.86/box and have at least 1,200 rounds of the stuff in ammo cans. At first, I thought it was dirtier than domestic ammo, until I did a head to head comparison with American Eagle ammo. I found that Monarch was no worse than the American Eagle ammunition, and accuracy was just as good if not better with the Monarch ammo. Let's see, $2.86/box of steel cased ammo versus $8.64/box for brass cased American Eagle. I know what I am going to use from here on out

Barnual kicks a@&! If I knew anybody that had some I'd buy it period. Now the sleeper out there is the brown bear, just as accurate but not as hard to get. I don't know about fps for either out of my Ak since I don't have a chronograph but if ya shoot them in the head what does it matter huh? ![]() blackops_1. |
I've got some of the Brown Bear. It can give some very nice groups, but I don't find that it's consistent. I get 2" groups at 50 yards, then 4" groups. All over the place. Still, it's better than most ammoes I've tried. |
May be a fluke but nowhere near that big for me, maybe 100fps. I'm a blue box kid, bummed that Dans no longer has it near me and the re-labeled Monarch is unavailable since there are no Acadamy stores here. |
