I'm relatively new to AK's, and was wondering if anyone has ever found any 7.62 tracer. Never seen it advertised, did a search with no results, etc. Kinda wonderif the pulled 7.62 NATO tracers would work (I realize AK is .310, right?)

7.62x39 tracers using bullets pulled from .30-06 and 7.62x51 have been sold.
At best the bullets have a different trajectory than 123 grain 7.62x39 bullets.
Some have reported very poor accuracy with .308 diameter bullets, which isn't surprising.

I picked up 100 rounds of Winchester brassed tracers at a local gun show 2 weeks ago. I didn't realize that these were "reloads". I just assumed that they were Winchester manufactured. I know they list them at Sportsmans Guide, although they show them as out of stock at the moment. HTH,

I've been greatly disappointed by all the tracer reloads I've bought for 7.62x39mm.

Is that due to poor accuracy?
Is that due to the difference in trajectory?

All the ones I've fired have been noticeably underpowered, and the tracer did not last long at all.  These were just boxes I bought at gunshows.

At $1.50/round? More power to you if you can do that! It would be fun, though. I have some tracer shotgun shells that I tried at the range one day when nobody was around - they worked fine. I also have a few boxes of US 5.56 tracers that were linked up with M855 on 120-round belts and sold at shows in the '90s. Never have tried them but I'm sure they work fine.

I was thinking more like 15 cents a round. I have over 4k of 5.56 tracers. I have never seen a 7.62x39 tracer for under a buck, so I don't have any.
