Has anybody bought any ammo from the above website.  Also should I buy GT or spend a few more bucks and get brown bear or wolf.

AIM Surplus (link in post above mine) currently has the best deal on 7.62 Golden Tiger. It is $160 per 1K plus ~$15 shipping for each case.

Golden Tiger is better than regular black box Wolf (IMO), and GT is about equal to Wolf Military Classic and Brown Bear. Golden Tiger actually seems to be the cheapest price wise these days, so definitely buy Golden Tiger.

I've got 3 cases of GT in my basement from AIM. (2 of those case were bought when it was still only $150 per 1K....). Only shot a few mags worth of the ammo so far, but it seems to be very good quality.

+1 I love GT, seems to run smoother than Wolf, and (unfortunately) you can't beat the price right now from AIM.

does the laquer on the cases ever get jammed up in your receiver if you fire the gun alot and get it hot?  RG

shipping depends on where you live, for me it makes no difference between the two above options

While this is theoretically possible in an AK, and I'm sure it can happen (especially if you have a round chambered in a hot barrel and then leave it there while the barrel cools), the tolerances of the AK should handle it, and you should be good to go.

On a firearms with tighter tolerances, the lacquer coating then becomes more of an issue. That is one of the big reasons Wolf developed it's polymer coating- for people with AR-15s. It isn't really a necessary precaution for AKs.

AKs were designed to fire steel case ammo (copper washed and/or lacquered). If lacquer is good enough for the AK in the wild, I'm sure I should be OK using it on the range.

Got some GT last week from AIM: 160 plus 15 for shipping to Louisiana.

Cool looking ammo boxes and purple neck  sealant -- a must for LSU football fans like me.
