HOW MANY ROUNDS CAN BE FIRED OUT OF A AK-47 WITHOUT CLEANING?, AND WHAT PARTS WOULD BE DAMAGED. I'M NOT ASKING WHAT YOU THINK, I'M ASKING FOR EXPERIENCE.

I have read many posts about 'thousand' between cleanings but recall no specifics. Other than normal wear acceleration if not lubed between cleanings, I do not recall even an extractor getting too gummed up (violent enough to self clean?).

Try posting in the gen forum.

Troy Sellars has a Post-May dealer sample Krionkov with 12,000 plus rounds thru it IIRC.

Shoot non-corrosive ammo.
Shoot it all you like.
Excess carbon&gunk buildup will be scraped away by the bolt/carrier/gas-piston. You need not worry about it.
I belive the only thing that will make any difference is fouling, and then, that's just accuracy (ETA: until you clean it).

Sounds like some damn good advice.

I did 800 through my converted Saiga (.223) and had no problem with shooting.  No fail to fires.  No fail to cycle.

The problem I had was cleaning the residue from the 800 rounds out of the rifle.  hat
What is interesting is that my friend's M-4 jammed at about 800 rounds (shell would not extract and bolt was jammed in there).  I cleaned my converted Saiga because I didn't want to press my luck and I wanted to inspect what the results were.

Just passed 2000 on my 74 without even cracking it open this past weekend...
Strangely, it did jam once..
For some reason, the casing got stuck on the chamber (polymer Wolf). Hit the charging handle, and it pulled the casing right out. Went right back to firing just fine.

You may have a marginal extractor spring.

I have had wolf ammo once stick on a round in my SAR-3
5.56.  It wouldn't fully chamber.  The round was oversize for the chamber.  Sometimes you get a bad round.  Sometimes the wolf has a bit too much lacquer.  I have to add this is my only problem wolf in around 3K rounds of it in 5.56 thru SAR-3's.

Perscription is the same for AK or M-4.

Slam the butt on the ground/table while pulling back on the charging handle.  99/100 times the inertia will break the round free.

No, it's quite strong, actually.

The casing got stuck in the chamber, and I had to put the buttstock to the ground and hit the charging handle a couple of times with a block of wood.

The only reason I bother cleaning mine is because of corrosive ammo.  I popped my pas tube off my SKS a day after shooting and there was rust everywhere.  Ever since i clean mine every time I shoot, but that's because of the corosive ammo.

I don't think I've cleaned that damn SKS since late last year.
have only cleaned the AK once, and that was when I built it sometime in march.

Well, I do send a boresnake down the barrel after every range trip, but does that really count as any cleaning?

Oh, and forgot to post my $0.02 on this:
Bulgarian Arsenal issued a statement some time ago when one of their range guns (AK74) got past 300,000 rounds logged on it. Someone posted here on ARFCOM about it with the story, anyways.
