I just got an Arsenal SSR-99.  It is very clean and low round count.  It has a white plastic buffer at the rear of the receiver.  Is this piece necessary?  Being plastic it is probably the weakest piece in the gun.  Should and can I get a spare or will it run fine without it?  Thanks

It should run fine w/o it. But buffers in AKs are frequently used to make up for crap builds.

I would remove it and see what happens.

SSR-99 is a very well built rifle. You shouldn't need need the buffer and it could cause malfunctions from shortening the bolt carrier travel. Take the buffer out.

I had a buffer on one of my guns because the receiver was out of spec. The bolt carrier would jump the rails if it wasn't there.
