I have seen some rifles painted gold (so they actually look like they're made of gold) does anyone have a clue where I could find some good durable gold paint to refinish my AK? Thanks ahead of time.

if you wanted to go all out then you could always actually gold plate it www.caswellplating.com/kits/ |
Tempting with the Gold plated (but my resources are limited, I'm a full time student and father of three), this is going to be a father's day gift for some one who does not even want an AK. I figure it has enough historical significance he would like it. All my family is or has been military and all have had this rifle pointed at them at one time or another, this is kind of like the medievil prize of your enemies sword. I'm off to Sears in a bit and see about some gold engine paint. I will let you know.

I'll keep looking...I KNOW that I saw someone else around here who used inexpensive metallic gold paint that you can get at wally world...just have to find it....think it was in an "ugly ak" picture thread going for this look? www.thegunzone.com/gaudy-kalashnikov.html |

This is what i would do in your situation I would go ahead and get the gold gun kote. I would use this as a base coat to protect the gun. Then I would buy some gold krylon paint that has the bling you were looking for. Then paint the gun with that over the gun kote. That way it is protected and has the bling. The krylon however has a 2 week cure time. Its good to touch after 24 hours but to thoroughly cure it will take 2 weeks. Unless you plate the gun this is about your only option. |

I am becomeing a legend . Just remember, I did the gold paint because I needed some lipstick on my piggie, rustoleum gold looks nice on the wall, but the paint wont stand up to range/field use. |
