This question is for anyone who has built, bought, or used a bending jig. I am just wondering if there are radii on the corners of the piece that the receiver is bent around. Not the piece you push it into, but the center support. I'd imagine that without at least a small radius, your flat might crack. Any help would be great. Thanks |
| i made one and just filed some good sized radi on the edges. you deffinatly dont want them sharp. the size realy doesnt matter , nothing touches down there. i took 2 bars of stock and made them 1.25 wide. milled out the clearance in both sides. put some tapped 3/8 holes in the bottom half and counter bored holes in the top half{lined up with the mag well and trigger opening. lay the flat on the bottomhalf. put the top half on, snug the bolts up . set up on 123 blocks and indicate the end of one edge, flip it over and check the other side at the same point. and just keep tapping back and forth until it is good and centered. then tighten it up. set up a kurt vice in the press with some long parrallels for jaws. set the jaws for .010 clearance per side, and pressed it down in to the vice. you kind of have to pry it open a little to get it off the fixture, but it worked tits. then i made a separate fixture with a angle on it for bending over the top rails that you just clamp in a kurt vice. |
