I know this is probably a very newb question, but I am definitely a newb when it comes to building an AK. What is it that keeps someone from buying a parts kit and putting it back together on a new receiver as a full auto rifle? I mean, aren't all of the parts to make it full auto in the kit when you get it? If I understand correctly, when the rifle is demilled, don't they sell the kits with the full auto parts? I guess prison would be one thing that would stop most people from building a full auto illegaly. Anyway, flame away if you must, but this is something that I have been think about lately. By the way, I am in no way looking for directions or contemplating this. I just wondered about it. Thanks in advance. |
| First - I don't know how and don't want to know how. It'd be too tempting. Second - I'm not gonna' screw up my receiver by putting a third hole in it. Third - $10,000 and 10 years in prison doesn't sound too good. All it takes is an LEO at the range to see the 3rd pin in the receiver and you're busted. |
What kind of moron would go to the range with an unregistered MG ? But , then again, what kind of moron would build an unregistered MG

I agree with the to two comments. It's still kinda odd to me that all thats really required in most cases is that you tap another hole in a receiver and WHAM it's back to original MG configuration. |

If you had an illegal machine gun, you couldn't enjoy it. 99.999% of the US believes that all machine guns are illegal. The sound of full auto fire would attract way too much attention. Get caught with an illegal machine gun and everything you have built up in your life up to that point goes down the toilet. My semi-autos will shoot faster than I can I properly aim them. That and the cost of ammo. Some forbidden fruit makes really crummy dessert. Illegal full auto is at the top of that list. |
