alright guys, i have built or shall i say assembled an ar.

i would like to do an ak.

a few qestions.

i was looking at prebent blanks .40 normalized at akparts.com.
will i need to heat treat these before completion?
are the templates glue on?
what about the rails, are they included in demilled kits?

will they need to be welded on or can they be attached another way?
anyone have a link to a reasonable price ak kit that has a full stock and no forward grip?
i have seen plenty of romy g kits. can the forward grip be cut off?
thank s guys.

Buy a nds-3 receiver (about $58) for your first build.  If you want to bend a flat, you will need the jigs which will cost more than the Romy kit.  Some flats come with rails, others you will have to buy them.  The rails are part of the receiver, which is cut before you get the kit (they are not included).  You will have to weld or screw the new rails on yourself.

If you want to use a flat, look for a build party in your area.  If you want a trouble free build and plan to do it yourself get the NDS-3 100% receiver.  These receivers are dead on and you shouldn't have any problems.

As far as cutting off the VFG on a Romy, I would not recommend it.  I believe it adds character and it is more natural when shooting.  Get a Romy G kit and buy a handguard without a grip.  You can find them for under $30.  All you will have to do is trim alittle wood to make it fit.
