I finally got to the range to test fire my polish underfolder and it has some trigger slap. How do I fix this? It's a G2 trigger and a commercial receiver. TIA Ben |
Is it NDS? IF so to fix purchase a double hook and don't mill the other hook slot out so far. You need to limit the maximum pull of the trigger. What can happen, the sear gets to far forward with that extra long pull and when the hammer comes down to engage it, it actually wacks it dead on instead of just grazing it and lightly hooking under. If your not getting too much pull (and you've confirmed this by making sure you see the trigger hook flats on the base of the hooks bottom out on the receiver) then the pins could be too close together. if that's the case just take material off of the sear until you have about 1-2mm engagement with the hammer edge. just file off the top surface. Always test the system before using it again.. make sure it grabs the hammer when you have the trigger pulled back! DO this at your own risk, take too much off and youll need to buy a new FCG. |
| I'd also check your axis pins. I had some pins that fit a little loosely inside a NDS receiver I had. It was loose enough that the trigger would wiggle. I replaced the axis pins with new, unused ones and it got rid of the wiggle in the trigger. While I never fired the rifle with the other axis pins, I would imagine that the wiggle in the trigger would have resulted in trigger slap. |
I found the same on my NDS3 build. I use "E" clips instead on the sheppards hook and found I needed to placed 2 clips on each pin otherwise the hammer and trigger would start walking side to side. |

I agree with the shepard hook, had problems with the eclips after a while and switched to the SH. I would try the above mentioned methods to fix your TS, if that doesn't do it you may want to file your hammer some. If you are encountering alot of drag when you hand cycle the action it may be the problem. To fix; put the hammer in the fire position against the bolt carrier. Use a marker to mark the hammer from the top of where it contacts the round peice at the back of the bolt carrier. Start there and draw a line to the top of the hammer where it meets the part on the hammer where the dissconnector lip is. Mark both sides and remove hammer and grind down on the hammer where you marked. Be careful not to go to far and don't grind on the lip that the disconnector hooks on. |
You're just experiencing a shoulder bump fire. It's hard to put a light trigger in a semi-auto rifle with a decent size caliber and not get that. Back when Krebs was still doing custom work, I had them refinish my Sar1, add a brake, and do a trigger job. The trigger was a little too light! I could empty a whole mag from the bench from a slinged position if I wasn't careful. |
