| i learned the tape method here.i do not reccondmend it as gospal,but only as a way to check to see if you are in the ballpark.you put a piece of masking tape on a spent case and close the stripped bolt.if it closes,put another piece over the first piece,it should close,put a third piece over the other 2,should not close.masking tape thickness varies,so this is not a substitute for gauges,just a checker for a matching numbers kit.make sure the tape does not overlap the bottom of the case.i involk all disclaimers.if you have a mismatched kit you should use real gauges.i have had a couple of non matching number kits that the headspaced was ok and worked fine.there is no substitute for a lost face.be smart and not cheap.always look at the first case fired from your rifle.bring a magnifiying glass.if there is any deformity do not fire until checked.if you see any bulging or cracks do not fire anymore untill checked. |
