Thought I'sd give a head's-up.  CFS has them for $54.  Sorry if this is a repost.

One of the reasons for the lack luster interest in these kits (and its subsuquent low price) is that fact that compliance parts and the receiver are not readily available. This is a variant of the AK, not an AK. I have seen a receiver mentioned for possible production in the $500 range.

Not to hijack but what is the least expensive available true AK type kit? I know nothing about them but want to a few kits before I can't get a few kits.

I think the Romy G kits are about the cheapest.  They can be found as low as in the $80 range.

Try DPH Arms.  I've bought several kits from them and the product and service are top notch.

copes distributing has "rusty" romanian "g" kits for $84.99 + 7.95 shipping. A good condition Romanian is $99.99 which is what they have them for.

don't pay over $100.00 for a decent romy kit.

Hit up the RommyGs then. They are a great value. With one of them you can build any variant of the AK you like (as long as you don't mind it in 7.62x39).

I'm not really sure that it's even an AK variant.

That is probably more accurate. The trigger pin/ trigger looks the same position, but the hammer pin does not. The gas system looks AKish.

This diagram shows the parts a little better.  One of the defining characteristics of an AK is a rotating bolt. The  VZ58 has a completely different bolt design.

I got one of the Centerfire kits at $89.95, and I've just been too lazy to machine a receiver. Can't wait though.

Ive been throwing around the idea of modding the side folding stock to fit a stamped AK.

Just never got around to ordering the kit.

It is not an AK.  It takes a little more work:  http://www.thompsonmachine.net/vz58.htm

You can get receivers and compliance parts from OOW but they aren't cheap.

The OOW VZ-2000 semi VZ-58 clone is excellent .

if they sell the dummy receiver, couldn't you simply take the dummy receiver, tolerance it, and mill a copy?
