Hello!
I am looking to try my hand at building an ak-47 receiver. I am partial to the laser cut, since it gives me a reason to buy a mig welder and learn how to use it. However, many of the other types of flats I have seen have dimples in them. They seem to vary in size and location, so I don't know what they are for. Do the dimples have a specific purpose? Would I have to figure out how to add them to a laser cut flat or can I go without them? Basically, are the dimples for decoration?
Thanks!

I think the dimples where originally put in to hold the mags steady but they are not needed. The lower rails should keep them steady without the need for dimples. The fold by hand ones will take a lot of work but do not require a jig. They are also heavy enough so that they will not need heat treating. Any 80% flat will take a lot more work than a 100% flat. I have some of the fold by hand ones if your interested in some shoot me a message.
