First post, First potential build, I've been lurking on the forum for months now and the question I have is that I've been around firearms for years now, everyone in my family hunts and shoots regularly.  I go to my local gun range all the time and shoot clays, and other hunting rifles.  Last year I met a marine sniper that was there shooting some of his AK's and AR-15's.  Thats when I got hooked, he let me shoot them and I said I had to have one.  AR's are a little too expensive for me now and the  question I have is that I want to build one from a kit, I would have the reciever sent to me, but I am wondering if I going to be in over my head.  I would much rather build my own, and know the gun inside and out, now I have taken apart my shotguns and other rifles to clean them and I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty and taking things apart, but I don't know if that qualifies me for being able to build a rifle from a kit and have it actually work.  And if you guys don't think I could do it what entry AK would be good to buy.  Thanks a lot

I'd say go for it. I was weary about my first build and didn't start on it til I'd had it for 6 months. I'd suggest a Romanian to start on it's as simple as you can get. Just do all your homework before you start. If you got an idea of what you're going in to= It all comes together. Good luck, post some pics when you're finished.

yeah i planned on a romanian kit, I guess you have to start somewhere, i was just worried about having any specific skills or anything of that nature, i've looked through so many how-to things on this site and others that I think I should be fine, and any questions that I have will definately be answered by everyone on this forum, there is a ton of info.  Thanks
