Upon finishing my welds of the rails (see other post) I was trying to fit the center supprt posts and found them to be too wide. Can I simply grind them down to fit or do I buy other posts? Secondly, these posts are from screw kits that I had originally planned on doing but am going to do the u-drive thing instead; does that matter if it is a post from a screw kit rather than a rivet kit?

Grind to fit. Normally you'd measure the thicknessof each rail and subtract that from your I.D.
ie; 1.250"- (0.040 rt. rail + 0.060 ejector rail) = 1.150". or 1.170 if both rails are each 0.040" thick.
YMMV

As long as a center support rivet will fit through it, use it.

I use Curtis' center supports from www.ak-builder.com

They are the proper length and made of hardened steel, not soft pot metal.
