First test fire the ejector rail is starting to mushroom out a bit where it kicks the case out. Aprox. 50 rounds. When I heat treated I took the rail to red hot then quenched. next I brought to blue/gray color then let it air cool. Can I try to re heat treat? Anyone know what the problem is?

Try heating to white then quench it in a gallon of motor oil. That should do it.

Why would motor oil be better than Water?

Blacksmiths kept their shops semi dark so they could see the color changes better. I have been tempering at orange, just after cherry red. Oil with some metals gives a better hardness as water can make it a little too brittle .

Heard of some using Kasenite or I think welding the tip of ejector?

Hey 1917, not to worry. First off, the 4130 cannot harden to brittelness like 4140. It has a lower alloy content. You should not anneal it at all. Remember you only have to harden the very tip of the ejector, not the whole thing. You cannot quench 4130 in oil. It cools it too slowly and the steel will mush, 4130 requires a violent water quench. You can heat treat it many times to get the right hardness, but the steel will start to oxidise after awhile and that's not good. This is not "speculation" advise, this is straight from the shop floor, from experiance on working guns. If all else fails, you can tig weld on some hard surfaceing rod used for plow blades and that can fix a messed up ejector as a last resort.
