i'm having problems reading the height of the rear 1/4" plate. is it 1.50 or 1.59" tall? Thanks Caspian |

yours printed out better so i'll use it. i don't have a mill to cut the jig, so i plan on making it from a piece of 2" x 1/4" flat. Initial metal will be removed by a jig saw with metal blade, then clean up with grinding wheel and final smoothing/leveling with a belt sander. think that'll work for the side plates? |
| The top and bottom of the side pieces need to be pretty straight. I am not saying it can't be done the way you are intending, but you will have to take special care to get your sides straight. With careful measuring and taking your time I am sure you can do it. |
I assume that this is the plans that 555th used to make his flat bending jigs. I owned one of his original jigs and have used the flats I bent with it to build 10+ AKs with no problems relating to the receiver. But like I said in my earlier post... I don't think that .01" will make any difference when building an AK. |

Yea, and the plans on my site are from 555th as well and 555th is a Mod on my forums so it is no problem for me to ask... www.quarterbore.net/forums/showthread.php?t=164 I just can't upload the image from work

If you click the magnification on the PDF file up to 400%, it appears to read 1.58. That's what I made my set at. But, as was stated above, .01 should'nt make to much differance. quarterbore.com/images/555thjig_print.pdf |
I just registered or re-registered on your forums this afternoon Quarterbore. I haven't had a chance to peruse the topics, but between yourself and 555th there is bound to be some good information there. I am just awaiting a confirmation email and I can start looking. |
