I sent my AMD kit to JNEWT for threading and finish work well over 4 months ago and have continuously received delayed email responses from him. Today on my latest email it bounced as not an active email address. Does any know how to get a hold of him? It's been so long I'm just ready to get my stuff back and do it myself. Can someone help me, he has my stuff and I'm worried I'm out a OOW receiver, side rail mount, and most of the parts to my amd... I started this process due to information I gathered on this website and understand some of you have a lot of experience with him. I'm really concerned at this point.

I can be contacted at [email protected]

As of today I have found a thread replied to by jnewt on 10/10 stating he's back and is going back to work on builds. I haven't heard from him but it appears he's communicating on the forums. I would just like to emphasize this thread is about communication. I would really like to get the work done but like I've maintaned in this thread I respect all folks have had to say and want to give Josh a fair shake. I hope it works out and will update those of you on this thread if I hear from him.

He posted a thread a few weeks ago that he was going to NO to help out and that he would be out of reach for a few weeks.

Wow, he's going to be busy, he's an EMT or something like that? Dang, I wish I had never done this. Well if anyone knows how to get a hold of him when he's home other than email I'd appreciate a pointer.

If its any consolation, he does very nice work. He had my AK-74 for a VERY long time. I think it was close to 6 months. I had to write him all the time or I wouldnt have had any contact with him at all. He had my stuff so long that my OOW receiver he sent back to me had surface rust on it, lol.

Yes he's an EMT (or something along those lines).

Don't get too spun up about it.  If there is one thing I learned about AKs it's if you want something built right you are going to wait for it.  There is no question Jnewt does some of the finest work but the downside is his turn around time.  I was talking to him about a possible build in July of 2006!

Roosteroo,

I'm kinda in the same boat as you except I requested that my kit be sent back.  I understand that he's very busy but I sent him an email about 1 month ago and still haven't gotten a reply.  I've sent a few follow up emails and they bounced back.  I know Josh does great work, is a great guy and is busy with his EMT job but all I'm asking for is my kit to be mailed back.

Yeah that was my last request too. I just want my stuff back.

I had to have my kit mailed back to me as well, as I kept getting put on the back burner. Ive seen his work and know its nice, but that means nada to me if I cant get it done.

How long ago did you request your kit back?  Did you get it back yet?

i am still waiting on him to complete a trade deal from TWO months ago, I have seen his work, while nice, it is still no excuse.  JNEWT if you read this, send me BACK my spotting scope, and keep your barrel.

Well, that's the original reason why I requested my kit back... I learned how to build myself.  Now, I really want it back cuz this no communication thing is starting to freak me out a bit especially since it's a Bulgarian AK74 kit.  If it were an inexpensiive Romanian kit I wouldn't be so worried about it.

I have read that a lot of folks feel this way about JNEWT. This is why I didn't immediately go for a FLAMING of him on my original post. All I was looking for was more information on how to resolve my transaction with him. I would love to complete it as we'd agreed. I'm also not trying to hurt his gun business. All I expect is some good communication on a deal that's worth several hundred dollars of parts and a receiver with a serial number that has my name attached to it. So forgive my inciting a riot but I think the number of people responding to this thread indicates that he needs to change how he does business. I appreciate his service to those in need and support him it, I think it would have been a good idea to put an auto-response about his absence either on his website and/or his email account.

JNEWT has some items of mine also. He contacted me about a pistol I had for sale and wanted to do a trade for some of his work and a receiver.

I don't pretend to know Josh at all. Just through E-mails but  It does seem that Josh is an honest stand up guy.

I believe the main fear and knee-jerk reactions so far is a fear of another GOOCH or another builder who suddenly disappears. I had some work with a guy named Randy Rock of Independence Arms out of Dallas Texas about 2 years ago. Guy did fantastic work. Quality stuff. Seemed like a really cool guy. Corresponded with him for about a month before I shipped him my rifle. Always spot on with his E-mails. Sent him my rifle then all of a sudden he keeps putting me off, no return E-mails blah, blah, blah, then one day 4 months after I was supposed to get my rifle back it, showed up at my door. 1 week later he goes out of business and alot of people over at GUNSNET lost their stuff. I am not sure if they even got it back. This is the main fear everyone feels. All of us here work our @sses off for what we have. We don't want to lose it.

I am not saying that this will happen with Josh. I don't believe this will happen with Josh. I believe the lack of communication from Josh to the members here has only increased that fear. The Katrina hurricane calling him away has just been really bad timing because Josh seems to be running behind on his builds. I truly believe Josh will make it right. Just sit tight all.

I appreciate your comments and hope your positive statements turn out as described. I've felt like I've been holding tight since May and I guess I have no option but to do so.

Thanks for the link, if I had surfed the site more I would have known. I don't come here and search for his posts as a means of communicating with him. Maybe if he had sent me the link when he posted it...

Guys, Josh is alive and well. Yesterday he told me he was working long shifts 6 days a week at his EMT job, and on his one day off he usually sleeps.  I'd say give him the benefit of the doubt, and "good things come to those who wait".  I've never personaly had any communication problems with him. He usually emails me back the same day, and I don't email that often. He seems very stand up to me, and does exceptional work. For me it's worth the wait.

Once again, thanks for the update. I'm glad to know he communicates with someone regularly. My only excuse is that I started feeling like some sculduggery was afoot after waiting so long and not getting any replies for several weeks. I keep hearing everyone is pleased with his work, that's why I went to him. I guess I would have been less demanding had I gotten in to this with some awareness of his method of operation. He sure does have a lot of endorsements, that bodes well for me when it's all over.

For what it's worth, I have purchased a few small items from Josh and he was quick to get them to me.

And cordial to boot...

That's my experience.

I have to say, judging by the fact that this thread has over 640 views I'd say there's a lot of folks not speaking up on this issue. I'm getting the impression there's a bit of pent up energy here...

I will speak up on his behalf....JNEWT has been in NO doing some EMT/relief work IIRC..hence no time for emails.   My brother and also a friend of mine has been working down there too, sometimes they can't even get cell phone networks let alone internet access.

The wait is long..yes it is, I waited too just like everybody else here.  But I did eventually get my rifle and it is beautifully done.  Well worth the wait.

Give the man a little breather, he won't cut and run, he will get your goods back to you.  After reading all the posts, I can see why no new builder are getting into the business.

I hate to chime in when I have no dealings with him, but maybe a pic or 2 of his completed builds will help relieve everyone? I'm not looking to turn this into a picture thread, just a little something for everyone to look forward to.

I got email from JNEWT today re-iterating his return as in the other thread and that he was very sorry about the circumstances. He's getting help from his father in law. OK, so I am holding tight. Trust the process, trust the process, trust the process...

Man, I am glad I have no dealings with this fellow, my brother is working down in NO for a major corp, yet he is expected to uphold his responsibilities up here.

Excuses are like A-holes guys, call it what you will, money talks BS walks, if you have someone's product and thier cash you need to make it right.  Send an e-mail stating your issue, and send the item back if that is what it takes if you can't get the job done.

"oh the guy does great work"  F-that, many guys on this board do "great work" however if you pay for a service you should expect that service in a timely fashion.

Seriously if someone had my receiver for more that what the initial agreement was, I would attempt to rectify the situation via email, phone or registered letter, if that doesnt work, I am contacting the ATF.

My friend called around several weeks ago to most of the "good" AK builders ( that does include jnewt ) just to get a price on some front sight work.

ALL OF THEM have work backed up for months!

I am sure he will get straight with you as soon as he can.   He is kind of indisposed at this time...
this is a situation that it completely out of his control at this moment in time.

I guess all I am saying is BE PATIENT.

If I was in your position I wouldnt be worried...

JNEWT is in pretty much constant communication with me since last week. I'm greatly emabrrassed by my lack of composure and am assured he intends to complete our work together. So please, lets not turn this in to JNEWT bashingm that was never my intent.
