In the past on a screw build, I
1) assembled without loctite,
2) test fired
3) disassembled
4) parkerized
5) painted
6) reassembled with loctite

I'm contemplating a rivet build and wondered what other rivet builders have done.  Has anyone riveted the trigger guard on and then parked?

ive had them parked after

the only prob you could have is clreance if you park and paint after testsfire

if i was you id finish the rec with a thick paint (just elcheapo)
to make shure it wont be to tight with a finish on there befor you park

I assemble the TG/MC and trunion and stock block, then have the reciever parked. The thickness of the parkerizing is not thick enough to effect anything.  The parkerizing is in the surface of the metal, not on the metal. Then I install the  barrel and complete the build.

Edited:  Hmmm, I didn't think about the paint. I've never painted a receiver.

Texxut,

Just to clarify, you parkerize the "inside" of the barrel trunnion and have no problems pressing the barrel back in?  That sounds like the best protection yet.

I had the same concern, so I parkerized my receiver before putting trunnion on. I also parked the rivets. After build, I use cold blue to blue the rivets and some minor scratches on the receiver. They took cold blue very well.

WK1234,  that is correct, I parkerize the whole receiver, trunions and all, inside and out and have had no problems putting the barrel back in.   If a guy wanted to paint over the park, he could stick a cork in the trunion hole and paint the receiver exterior. You don't see the inside of the reciever when the rifle is assembled and the inside is protected by the park anyway.

Now you guys have got me thinking. Were the original receivers painted?  Maybe I'll paint one of mine, although the parked receivers, on mine, match pertty well.

i wouldnt park the barrel hole or the barrel pin hole
as i understand it park isnt a finish over the part but rather a finish etched into the part
and you dont wanna change the size of those holes up or down
