I have a Romanian SAR-1.That i purchased brand new from a local gunshop I removed all the wood and replaced everyting with variouse US made furniture a while ago. ( Ultimak Mount, 3 Mount lower forward grip, tapco folding stock.)

Here is my question:

I have a romanian side folder i would like to put on my rifle. Is this feasable or since i have changed the origional configuration of the gun do i now need to use or care about the compliance parts count.

Just looking to do things right before i start screwing stuff together. Thanks in advance guys i always apreciate it - Zap

There are actually some pretty easy workarounds for most of these issues. Check out the build it yourself forums and the home builder's library on Gunco.net.

All you need to remove rivets is a drill & a couple punches.

And something to hold stuff while you beat on it.

I'd say for less that $200 you can get a drill press, a press, and a pair of bolt cutters to modify.

You are going to end up building way more AK's than you think you are, so you might as well take the plunge.

It makes things a lot easier!  I wasn't sure I wanted to get a press but I will say now it's the best thing ever!

As long as you don't have more than 10 foreign parts per 922r, you're ok.  In other words, yes, you have to care about the compliance parts count.
