Hello one an all . . .

Now I know this might be a silly question, but . . . . .

is it possible to build / repair / tinker / modify an AK without the use of a Dremel tool ? ?

To me - - the more I use my faithful Dremel the more uses I find for it.

So  ? ? ? ? ? ?

While a dremmel tool is handy..  I rarely use one on AK builds...  there are better tools out there that are designed for the needed purpose...

This seems to be turning into a pissing contest with the "elitists" with mills and such against the WECSOG builder who doesn't have the cash or need for the fancy tools.  I have built 4 AK using a dremel, and they look and function just great.  Now I bend my own flats so I don't have as much use for my dremel, but I still use it for "tweaking" the flats.  When I built using bent blanks I used my dremel extensively.

I think that we should be happy for the guy with the expensive mill, or the guy who builds on 100% receivers and also the guy who builds on 80% flats of blanks.  We are all in the same hobby, only some of us are shooting for authenticity and others of us are just here to have inexpensive shooting fun.  We have to hang together on our homebuilding, because if we lose our solidarity some friggin Kalifornia, or Massachusetts politician will try to close our homebuilding "loophole".

We need to not divide ourselves into groups.  That makes us easier to defeat.

I was not implying that anyone was elite..  or better than anyone else..  I have spent money outfitting my shop...  I would be far and above futher along in my collection had I not..

I have several dremel tools...  or clones..  They got me through when I didn't have the right tool for the job..  Sure the Dremel type tool is a great idea and a cheap way to have the ability to do a great deal of machining operations....

This started out as a is the XXX just the greatest thing out there...  I just had a different opinion...

If any Virginia builders need help, my shop is always open..  all a builder has to do is ask

I guess I was just saying that we need to be more helpful, and less condescending.   I am just sick of the replies that imply that if  you do a screw build you are building shit, etc.  I just wish we could all be more understanding and helpful and less looking down our noses at the screw/dremel/weld/no mill/frugal builders.
