I built an AK74 from a k-var kit(screw build on OOW receiver), wood stock, bayonet, few mags.

How muh money would I be able to get for the gun if I decided to sell it?
Im looking at $450
Can I get more?

Your really not suppost to sell your home builds but you can. I don't think your gonna get what you put into it because it's not from a reputable manufacture.

$150 for any rebuild because it is not a guarantee build but if you were a worker in norinco or other ak plants you would get $400.00

your all 3 slightly off
450 ? not even in a wet dream
you can resell a homebuld as long as you didnt build the rec hes got an oow so its fine
and it worth alittle more than 150 just not much more 200-275

hehe, well I wasnt expecting that low...

So maybe its just worth keeping then, because it cost about $400 for everything to build it.

All my builds I will have for life partly because the majority are on homemade receivers and I dont want the hassel of that but also because its not worth it with all the time and detail I put in I wouldnt get nearly any of it back. I have plenty of other toys I can sell if need be.

It's worth what the market will bear.  To somebody in the know it will have less value.  To someone just looking for an AK to be cool it's worth a lot more.  I got $450 out of a used Mini-14 recently because the guy had to have it.

You could probably get about $1200 for a "pre-ban" AK.........

If  at a gun show! But I think you have to be a certified gun show SEAL, or something, to sell guns at a gun show.

As horrible as this sounds, wait until they are banned again.  Screw build or not, it will go for a pretty penny then.

You CAN sell a homebuild that you built for personal use.  Even on a receiver you built yourself.  The receiver needs to be marked in accordance with ATF regulations... your name, city and state, I believe, same as a SBR.  You CANNOT build homebuilds with the intent to sell, or be in the business of manufacturing firearms, but you CAN still sell ones you don't want anymore.

After all the gun manufacturer lawsuits though, I'd be hesitant to sell them anyways.  Ruger and the others have much deeper pockets than I do, and they're not having fun.

Let me preface this by stating that I've done a couple screw builds and I like them fine.  Had lots of fun figuring it out. I believe that it's the purest expression of home gunsmithing.

That said, IMHO, to an educated buyer, a screw-build will never be as valuable as a properly riveted rifle.

Furthermore, if you were to sell the parts separately, I think that tapping the trunions has lowered the value of the kit.  Sure, you could probably go back and rivet those trunions, but they're still buggered-up parts.

Keep it, enjoy it, put it away for a couple years if you're tired of it, but I really doubt you can get $450.

Agreed.  $250 would be about all for a screw build.

a taped trunnion is worthless for a rivet build
it can be used as a weld build tho

Im most likely going to keep it then.
