You remove the gas piSton from the carrier by locating the crosspin and punching it out.  Then the piston unscrews.

First I have to ask why would you want to remove the USA made gas piston from your SAR-1 rifle?

The SAR-1 rifles don't have a gas piston retaining pin in the bolt carrier. Century Arms screwed the USA made gas piston in and didn't drill and pin it. They welded the gas piston in the retaining pin hole on one side only of the bolt carrier. So you will have to drill the weld out and then unscrew the piston.
