Would there be any problems re-assembling a Saiga rifle on an OOW receiver? I have a chance to pick up a complete Saiga rifle, minus the receiver which was harvested for another build. Any forseeable problems?

It would probably be cheaper to just buy a Saiga @ $219. People buy the Saigas cheap just for the "made in Russia" receivers and the Cyrillic lettering. Still takes extensive mods ie:relocating fcg and pg. The front trunnions are different too.

The receiver is what makes the Saiga so desirable. Without it all you are left with is a bunch of sporter type pieces such as the stock and handguard not to mention the barrel.

i would say if you can get for cheap go for it
if they want alot of cash dont bother

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Less than $50 for the complete kit, $50 for a Vulcan receiver (group buy price) and a little work and you end up with an AK look alike thats shoots as good or better than the real thing. Or am I missing something?

Are the trunions, fcg, bolt and bolt carrier the same if so I might trade you my PAR kit for it. Email me if you are interested.

Isn't the Saiga's serial number on the trunion and not the receiver?
So 'harvesting' it would create a legal issue in my mind, I am wondering if whomever sold this unless a face to face would create a problem. Not to consider the receiver on a bulgarian kit or whatever? (no serial)
Interesting delimma......

I pay $50 bucks for it, but not if I had to pay a transfer fee too.

I noticed the same thing on my SAR I dont ever remember seing a serial # on the receiver only one on the front trunion and some other parts. Where can I find the serial number on the receiver or is there not one?
