Hello all, I am in Houston and have a really nice AMD 65 kit with a NoDak Spud receiver, and AK Builder rivet kit.  I'm looking for a mentor that can help me assemble it. Mostly I'm looking for someone to help me press out the old rivets from the trunnions, drill the front trunnion holes in the receiver, and press in the new rivets. I can drive a ways if you can help. I'll have this receiver parkerized before the build unless someone can help me do that too.

Build party Houston anyone?

I'm in Houston and I've built AR's and 1911's, but never an AK.  I'd love to learn, I can bring tools (and beer) if anyone here with a little experience would care to join, I'd appreciate the help so I don't bubba my gun

Have you bought a parts kit yet? I highly recommend one with the barrel installed for your first kit. Also, I went with a Nodak Spud 99% receiver. I call it 99% because you have to drill the front trunnion holes. I'll do an 80% next. I've got to pick up a spot welder.

So other than receiver fab tools, and I do have the front trunnion drilling tool, I have all the tools needed to build a parts kit with the barrel already installed.

I have 2 milled ak47 Bulgarian kits. I purchased a milled receiver and several stamped receivers and I am going to do one milled receiver and one stamped receiver style. I don't have go/no go gauges yet.

I have 7.62 X 39 Headspace gauges now. I have the AK Builder barrel press tool, trunnion drilling tool, trunnion riveting tool, trigger guard riveting tool. I could use some drill bits and punches and the tools for spot welding rails into flats, flat bending tools etc... I'm not setup to drill barrel pins or to populate barrels yet.

I've been gearing up to start a build.  I'm in if we set one up.  Have the flat bending die, shop press, rivet tools and barrel press jig.

Also have a MIG for plug welding rails, but haven't attempted that yet myself.
