| So, what's the skinny on the AK hammer and trigger pin retaining plate? I noticed that the hammer pin on my Bulgarian AKS-74 kit build sometimes walks out a bit. Would one of the plates correct his, or are they a solution looking for a problem? |

It's a toss up. The wires are perfectly fine, but it is possible to screw up on installing them if you are not paying attention.
The plates tend to be a bit more idiot proof in my opinion. You pick....ymmv ETA: I have two AK's. Each came with a different wire. I got two plates just to standardize and found them cheap for like $3 each a long time ago. They work as well as the wires and now I don't worry about the difference in installation directions for the wire. |
