Well gave it a shot today at parkerizing..Somewhat ? Saw this home brew .


Not as dark as I would like it...Will try it again.

What did you use to blast it?

Also, I see boiling, perhaps the park was too hot.

Where did you get the prep and etch chemicals?

I know, lotsa questions.

I bead blast at work....bought the items at home depot...

There is a black oxide solution (not sure on its chemical make-up) that makes the nicer dark color you probably are looking for.

There is no Center support, nor has it been heat treated....  Why are you at this step?  Practice maybe?

Who here hasn't played with their parts while waiting to finish a build?  Personally I think applying some sort of anti-rust finish is important even at the flat stage and even though most of it doesn't survive the bending and building process.  I like to at least have a good finish between the contacting parts just in case the final finishing process never makes it in.
