OK, here's the situation.

I will be ordering an AK-74 kit in about two weeks, and I want to put a scope mount on the receiver, but I'm having no luck finding info on this mod.  Google has let me down

What I need to find is a good source for the mount and the rivets.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a pic of the last build I did, which was also my first build

Building has really expanded this hobby for me.

The siderails are available from a number of places ranging from the typical surplus places (I have gotten them from Centerfiresystems.com, copesdistributing.net and others) to importers and those fabricating new siderails (like Kalinkaoptics).  I have installed both the riveted type as well as those requiring tapping and threading (on a milled receiver) and spot welded.  You have to decide if you want an AK style or PSL style rail (they are at different heights on the receiver).  Not sure what else I can do perhaps sell you some surplus rails I have in my collection, you just need to decide what you want and google it.

While those tantal siderails are certainly nice and usually specific to the firearm you are using they have to be the most expensive I have seen.  I spent over $50 on one from them and then got the same exact thing for $15 for 3 other of my kits.  If I had a tough type/model I would certainly go to them, but not for a build I really wasn't worried about something specifically for my type/model.

I bought the screw kit from Tantal and mounted it myself. It went pretty smooth, and I'm certain the screws were not coming out.
